The last few weeks have been full of festivities at St Mary’s, with the girls celebrating the build-up to Christmas with friends.
The school has been decorated beautifully, with the main Christmas tree standing in all its glory in the entrance hall. Thanks to Mrs Roberts and gardener, Ed, there is also a wonderful handmade wreath that stretches across the entrance arch, welcoming visitors to the school.
As always, there was a buzz of excitement in the boarding houses on the evening of St Nicholas. In keeping with tradition, all boarders left their shoes outside their rooms and dorms in anticipation that St Nick himself would leave them some sweet treats. They were not disappointed!
The girls were treated to Christmas meals last week. Thanks must go to Taher and the wonderful St Mary’s catering department for all their hard work preparing delicious meals.
The house staff also ensured that all the girls got into the festive spirit, with Christmas activities, parties and an abundance of treats. The girls have worked hard to prepare gifts and treats to sell at the Christmas Fair, in aid of their house charities.
Finally, the Carol Services round off the term, welcoming many parents, grandparents, friends and alumnae to a wonderful service in the Chapel.
It has been a wonderful term here at St Mary’s Shaftesbury and we very much look forward to 2020.
Happy Christmas from everyone at St Mary’s.
