Geography Field Trip to the Dorset Coast
This week LV and LVI pupils travelled to Studland and Swanage on a Geography fieldwork trip, a compulsory part of the GCSE and A Level course. The LV carried out a range of fieldwork tasks including measuring beach profiles to see if there is any evidence of longshore drift occurring and asking locals and tourists about their views on the coastal defences. The LVI walked over the dunes at Studland to look at the vegetation succession and then concentrated on the cliff processes occurring in Swanage Bay.
It was a beautiful day and the sun shone throughout. Luckily we all had time for an ice cream at the end too! Thank you to Mrs Lilley, Mrs Boyer-Castle and Mrs Fearnley for driving and a huge thank you to Mr Sykes who drove the GCSE Spanish girls down to meet us after their exam.
