In an increasingly crowded marketplace, the top A Level grades will continue to allow our pupils to challenge successfully for the most competitive courses at the most prestigious universities and to access the best further training and careers. Year after year, outstanding A Level results ensure that the overwhelming majority of our pupils gain entry to their first-choice university. This is testament to the hard work and skill of pupils and teachers alike.
In 2018, our Upper VI continued an excellent pass rate with the majority of them progressing to their preferred choice of university. This year, university destinations include Edinburgh, Exeter, Queen Mary UOL and Nottingham where girls are reading a broad range of degrees which include English, French, Spanish, Chemistry, History, Politics and Architecture.
Our objective at St Mary’s is for every girl to achieve results which reflect their hard work and ensure that all pupils achieve their potential. This is at the heart of our mission statement and ethos.
Each year, we are pleased to offer a large range of subjects:
- Classical Civilisation
- Drama and Theatre
- English Literature
- History of Art (Pre-U Qualification)
- Maths and Further Maths
- Religious Studies (Philosophy & Ethics)
- Physical Education
- Textile Design (from September 2019)
Pupils at St Mary’s will typically take three full A Levels. In addition to this, girls are encouraged to consider taking an extra activity to complement academic studies. This could be following the highly-respected Leiths cooking course, an Extended Project Qualification, Young Enterprise, or a fourth academic subject.
